On Saturday last our reserve league 1 panel had their second outing in this competition when we had to make the short trip to Fr. Mc Gee Park to take on Colmcille.  Pitch conditions were very good and with no breeze in evidence conditions were very favourable for football.  Both sides starting the game in determined fashion and it was Dromard who registered the opening point when Ross McNerney converted from play.  Colmcille drew level with a Niall Brady point from play to open the Colmcille account.  Enda Macken then picked off a point which again was cancelled out by a point from the home side.  Dromard were to added a further 3 points all coming from Gary Maguire (2 frees and 1 from play) to Colmcille's 1 point to leave the half time score Dromard 0-5 Colmcille 0-3.  Colmcille started second half strongly and had the scores level with converted points from play and a free.  A point from an acute angle from Dermot Reilly edged us into the lead but this was short lived as our opponents landed a brace from play to take the lead for the first time in the game.  Our players had dig deep at this stage and were able to land and unanswered 3 points to open up a 2 point lead.  Colmcille piled on the pressure in the the closing stages and while they pulled a point back our defence held out until the final whistle to get the hard earned win on the scoreline of Dromard 0-9 Colmcille 0-8.  Team and scorers.  Gavin Mc Nerney, James Conefrey, Padraig Mc Nerney, Enda Kiernan, Kieran Mc Stay, James Mimnagh, Micheal Reilly, Noel Reynolds, Donal Sheridan, Enda Macken (0-1), Peter Reynolds, Emmet Masterson, Ross McNerney (0-2), Peter Mimnagh, Gary Maguire (0-4) 3 free.  Subs used.  Keith Masterson, Dermot Reilly(0-1), Niall Mc Manus (0-1).  Other sub on the evening was Martin Mc Gee.  Next round of this competition will be this Saturday when we play Abbeylara at home at 5.30pm.  Our reserve league 3 panel entertain Killoe this Sunday in Pairc na Gael at 12.30pm. Best wishes to Longford u21s who take on Wexford in the Leinster championship semi final this Wednesday.  Hard luck to Longford seniors who went down to Derry on Saturday last. Better luck to all concerned when they take on Laois this Sunday in Pearse Park.  Sincerest sympathies to the Redahan family Corglass on their recent bereavement.
