Pride of place goes to Damien Sheridan who captured the MBNA All Ireland Kick Fada hosted by the Bray Emmet’s club on Saturday last.  This is the second time Damien has had the distinction of winning this coveted title having previously won it in 2010.  His winning kick was an almighty 65 meter drive. Taking into consideration that this was into a stiff breeze coming in off Bray Head really underlines the significance of the achievement. Damien had to hold off intense opposition from Kildare's Paul Flood and 2011 champion Monaghan's Shane Duffy. Damien also attempted to break Mark Herbert's world record distance of 72 meters but the windy conditions meant that this record would stand for another day. We offer our sincere congratulations to Damien who continues to be a great ambassador for our club. On Sunday evening our seniors returned to Pearse Park to take on Colmcille in the Quarter final replay.  Weather conditions were dry but breezy.  It was Colmcille who had the advantage of the wind in the first half and they took control from the throw in storming into a 5 point to no score lead. A good long range point from Ronan McEntire opened the Dromard account but Colmcille added a further 2 points to leave the  score Dromard 0-1 Colmcille 0-7 with 15 minutes played.  Dromard started to pull themselves back into it with 2 points from James Martin (free and play) and a Cían Mimnagh point from play.  A pointed free from our neighbours increased their lead to 4 points.  We finished the half strongly with Francis Mc Gee and James Martin points to leave the half time score Dromard 0-6 Colmcille 0-8. On the turnover we enjoyed a good spell of possession which yielded 3 points to edge us ahead for the first time in the game.  Colmcille drew level with a free before Cían Mimnagh regained the lead only to be cancelled out by a Colmcille equaliser.  It was at this stage we broke up field, with the ball eventually coming to Cían Mimnagh who made no mistake in finding the net.  While Colmcille pushed hard to get scores we held out and extended our lead kicking the last 3 points of the game. The final score was Dromard 1-13 Colmcille 0-10.  Team and scorers; Damien Sheridan, Peadar Faughnan, Cathal Conefrey, David Pettit, John Sheridan, Diarmuid Masterson, Peter Reynolds, Noel Reynolds, Bernard Sheridan (0-01), Declan Mimnagh (0-01), Ronan McEntire (0-01), Kevin Donohoe, James Martin (0-06) 2 frees, Francis Mc Gee (0-01), Cían Mimnagh (1-03).  Subs used; Paul Mc Gee, Emmet Masterson and Donal Sheridan. Other subs on the day were Gavin McNerney, Peter Masterson, Gary Maguire, Conor Duffy, Enda McEntire, James Mimnagh, Padraig McNerney, Kieran Mc Stay, Mícheál Reilly and Conor Kiernan.   The championship semi final will be next Saturday in Pearse Park at 5.45pm against Killoe.
