On Friday last our senior B championship team took on Fr. Manning Gaels in Pairc na Gael. Weather conditions on the evening were dry and calm. A Bernard Sheridan point from a free opened the scoring. Matters were tied up when the visitors pointed a free. Gary Maguire landed a point from play but this was followed by a Gaels goal from a penalty. The remainder of the half was evenly balanced with both sides exchanging points. The teams were level at half time Dromard 0-7 Fr. Manning Gaels 1-4. After the interval it was our neighbours who edged ahead after landing the opening score of the half. While we had to sustain a spell of pressure in the early stages of the second half, we gradually got into our stride landing an unanswered 1-10. Despite best efforts of our opponents we held on to the lead until the final whistle. The final score was Dromard 3-17 Fr. Manning Gaels 1-07. Team and scorers; Sean McNerney, Conor Duffy, Padraig McNerney, James Conefrey, Mícheál Reilly, Paul McEntire, Peadar Faughnan (0-02), James Mimnagh, Donal Sheridan (0-01), Emmet Masterson (0-02), Bernard Sheridan (1-01) 1 free, Kieran McStay (0-02), Enda Macken, Noel Reynolds (0-01), Gary Maguire (1-08) 2 frees. Subs used; Brendan McLoughlin, Dermot Reilly and Kevin Donohoe (1-00). This qualifies us for a final when Mostrim will be our opposition. This final takes place this Wednesday at a venue to be confirmed. Best of luck to all involved. Our seniors have a league outing this weekend when Fr. Manning Gaels visit Pairc na Gael. We also have a Div 3 outing against the same opposition in Monaduff on Sunday next at 2pm. Senior championship starts on weekend of July 29th. Longford's senior's season came to an end when they were defeated by Limerick in Pearse Park on Saturday last. Well done to all panel members who gave supporters a lot to cheer about over the season. Great credit goes to Damien and Francis who continue to give their county great commitment. Lotto results for Monday 9th July 2012. The numbers drawn were 4, 16, 22 and 29. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the draw were Joe McHugh, Pauline Smith, The Gray brothers, Ballyduffy and Padraig Reilly. The seller's prize was won by Stephen Reilly.
