On Sunday week last our seniors played their last game of the league when we travelled to Fr. McGee Park to take on our neighbours Colmcille.  The rain that fell earlier in the morning left the playing conditions slippery.  Colmcille opened the scoring with a point from play.  Cían Mimnagh found the Colmcille net with an effort from play.  The home side reclaimed the lead after scoring 3 points from (2 play, 1 free).  A James Martin point from a free levelled matters only for Colmcille to regain the lead with a point.  Dromard scored 1-02 with the goal coming Cían Mimnagh point from play.  Dromard got 3 of the 4 points before the break to finish the half ahead on the scoreline of Dromard 2-07 Colmcille 0-06.  The second half resumed with a point from play by our opponents before Ronan McEntire found his range with a point from play.  The home side reduced the margin with 2 further points. While both sides added further points there was 3 goals scored in the last 15 minutes, 2 for Dromard and 1 from Colmcille with Bernard Sheridan and James Martin the Dromard goal scorers. The score at the final whistle was Dromard 4-12 Colmcille 1-10.  Team and scorers; Damien Sheridan, Enda Kiernan, Padraig McNerney, David Pettit, James Mimnagh, Peter Reynolds, Kevin Donohoe, John Sheridan, Bernard Sheridan (1-00), Ross McNerney (0-01), Ronan McEntire (0-01), Emmet Masterson (0-2), Gavin McNerney, James Martin (1-03) 2 frees, Cían Mimnagh (2-05) 3 frees.  Subs used; Donie Conefrey, Kieran McStay, Gary Maguire and Niall McManus.  Referee Michael O Brien.  We wish a speedy recovery to Enda Kiernan who picked up an injury during the game. This concludes our league campaign and a big thanks goes to our players who have put in a big effort all season. On Saturday our under 21's played Killoe in the second round of the under 21 championship in Emmet park.  Killoe started strongly and built up a commanding lead.  Declan Mimnagh registered our first half points.  The second half saw our players continue to give of their best putting in a spirited display right up to the final whistle. The home side were deserving winners on the day. Team and scorers; Dylan Masterson, Keith Masterson, Stephen Kenny, Niall McManus, Michael Reynolds, James Kenny, Conal Murphy, Ross McNerney, Liam Doherty, Gary Maguire, Peter Mimnagh, Ronan Smith, Declan Mimnagh (1-04) 2 frees.  Subs used; Robert Cooke and Barry Connell.  Referee Patrick Maguire. Congratulations to clubman Gerry Maguire Moyne who married Emer Donnelly Arva over the weekend. On Saturday last our under 21's played their last group game when they took on Mullinalaghta in the Laurels.  This game would decide who would advance to the B championship semi-final. While the game was played in dry conditions the earlier rain left the surface soft and greasy.  It was the home side who had the better of the early exchanges opening a 1-04 to no score lead.  Dromard opened their account with a Ross McNerney pointed free and this was followed almost immediately by a successful free from Declan Mimnagh. Points were exchanged by both sides with Declan Mimnagh the Dromard scorer with a point from a free. Mullinalaghta scored the next 7 points from play to extend their lead.  Dromard finished the half on a high note when Declan Mimnagh found the net with an opportunistic free and a fine point from play by Neil Cosgrove was the last score of the half.  The score at half time was Dromard 1-05 Mullinalaghta 1-12.  The second half started well for Dromard with them enjoying a good amount of possession.  A Ross McNerney point from a free following a foul on Gary Maguire reduced the margin.  The home side settled into their stride again and regained the upper hand. Our players tried gallantly and despite a Gary Maguire goal it was to no avail as the home side finished ahead on the scoreline Dromard 2-06 Mullinalaghta 4-20.  Team and scorers; Dylan Masterson, Keith Masterson, Stephen Kenny, Michael Reynolds, Ronan Smith, James Kenny, Neil Cosgrove, Ross McNerney (0-02) 2 frees, David Cosgrove, Gary Maguire (0-01), Niall McManus, Peter Mimnagh, Declan Mimnagh (1-03) All frees.  Sub used; Conal Murphy.  As this result ends our interest in the competition and draws a close to our playing activities for the season we would like to acknowledge the effort put in this group and indeed all players that represented Dromard this season.  We look forward to seeing you all back on the playing fields next season.  Thanks to Gerry Sheridan and Edwin Brady who oversaw the preparations for the under 21's this season.  Best wishes to Longford Slashers and Carrickedmond who represent Longford in the Leinster club championships this weekend.  Best of luck to newly appointed Longford senior team manager Jack Sheedy and his management team and best wishes also to Gareth Johnston in his new role as Longford minor manager. Great to hear that one of the club's loyal supporters Peter McStay is home after a recent stay in hospital. Unfortunately Peter was hospitalised at the time of the county final. We wish Peter continued good health and hope to see him back in Pairc na Gael in the near future. Nice to see former Dromard player Colm "Stevie" Reilly currently at home on holiday from England. Colm was catching up with his teammates and going down memory lane with former players on the stories on games past. We hope he has an enjoyable stay. Congratulations to the Deirdre and Gary Palin Corrinagh on the birth of their baby daughter during the past week.  Sincere sympathies to the Reynolds families Kiltycon and Cammagh on their recent bereavement. Our annual 5km run/jog/walk is taking place on Saturday 30th November this year and will follow that same challenging route as last year!!!
