Reserve League 1. Dromard 0-14, Mostrim 2-9.  The reserve senior team launched the new season for Dromard against Mostrim in Pairc NaGeal on a dry but windy Saturday evening with heavy underfoot conditions in a game that was very well refereed by Frank Toher. In a close fought and highly spirited game throughout, where notable the momentum swung several times during the game, Mostrim just about held out to win with just one point to spare. Indeed Dromard, who had fought back from a 4 point deficit in the last 10 minutes, could have won it in the end were it not for a number of poor decisions in attack which could somewhat be excused as this was the teams and many players debut this year. First game cob-webs and lack of match practice was the primary reason behind the poor quality of ball supplied to the inside forward line particularly in the first half, and as well as a few slip ups in defence which allowed goals to be leaked that later in the season would not in normally happen. On a positive note, there was a high work rate and a spirited performance for the full hour and several new players were blooded. With match practice, full attendance at training, and the availability of more players moving forward this panel has everything to play for. Gary Maguire opened the scoring in the eight minute with a point followed by a Padraig Martin point and another Maguire point, all from play.  Niall McManus scored an excellent 45 before Enda Macken and Emmet Masterson registered well worked points from play. Then McManus rounded off Dromard's first half scoring with another 45 leaving a half time score line of Dromard 0-7 and Mostrim 1 -3 scored with all but one of Mostrims scores coming from play. Similar to the first half Gary Maguire opened Dromard's scoring with a free in the second half followed by points from play from Peter Reynolds, Padraig Martin, Dermot Reilly and Emmet Masterson before Maguire closed Dromards account for the day with a point from a free. During the second half Mostrim scored 1-5.  Round 2 is away to Slashers on Saturday at 5pm.  The club wishes a speedy recovery to Gavan McNerney who was injured in training. Team: Martin McGee, Ronan Smith, Enda Kiernan, Keith Masterson, Niall McManus( 0-2), Padraig Martin( 0-2), Alan McLoughlin, John Sheridan, James Mimnagh, Emmet Masterson( 0-2), Ciaran McStay, Michael Reilly, Conal Murphy, Gary Maguire( 0-4, 2f), Enda Macken( 0-1). Subs  used:  Peter Reynolds( 0-1), Dermot Reilly( 0-1), Kevin Maguire, Brendan McLoughlin, James Conefrey, Peter Minnagh.   Ref: Frank Toher.

Reserve League 3:  Our reserve league 3 team took on Kenagh on Sunday last in Pairc NaGeal in the opening match of the year. The team, which had a very good mix of both very young and experience players, played an excellent game against a physically strong Kenagh side. Dromard, who came out on the wrong side of a 2 point defeat, played well throughout. There were some excelled scores and great passing movements where some of the younger minor players were very much to the fore.  There are quite a few other players eligible to play Junior, it's important for the panel that these lads turn out, contact 086 8276299.  The next game in this competition is an away fixture v Ballymore next Sunday evening at 5pm, check text for any changes to fixtures.

Ladies: Hard luck to our ladies time who were beaten away by a very strong Carrickedmond outfit on Sunday last. No doubt they will return to their winning ways with the very high quality of coaching which is in place. The now play another tough game against Mullinaughta on Sunday next.

Leinster U21: Congratulations to Ross McNerney and the Longford U21 team on a fabulous extra time win away against Laois on Wednesday night last. Ross played exceptionally well when introduced and no doubt as his injury improves he will play a much bigger part against the Dubs in the now eagerly away Leinster Semi Final clash on Wednesday, 19th March in Portlaoise, at 7.30pm. Please support.

Longford Seniors: Well done to the Longford Senior Team and the Dromard contingent on achieving back to back wins in their great win away to Offaly in a game which has turned their season around for them. This sets up a very interesting encounter against our high flying neighbours Cavan next Sunday in a game which no doubt will raise the barometer of discussions in the North Longford / Arvagh area over the days and weeks to come.

Congrats: Congratulations also to Michelle McGee, Edenmore, and Sarah Murphy (U13 section),  on their recent big wins on the running track recently.
