Senior Reserve League 1:  Dromard 0-11 v Killoe 1-09, at Emmet Park, 8:30pm, on Friday 6th June.  Dromard had a great finish to the Reserve League 1 Semi-Final and virtually camped in Killoe’s half of the field for the final 20 minutes. However, we unfortunately failed to turn that volume of possession into scores and paid the ultimate price when a late point from Killoe’s Ronal McGoldrick deep into injury time saw them through to the final. Ultimately, a below par team performance in the first half, along with a couple of players who just didn’t perform on the day, the lack of depth in the number of players training for this particular panel, and the absence through injury of starting players Alan McLoughlin, Martin McGee and the impressive centre back Padraig McNerney is what cost us on the day. Driven forward by the ever inspiring Noel Reynolds, Dromard gave a great second half performance and bar a couple of exceptions the entire team were winning their battles with a tremendous show of great spirit and eagerness in that half. With more composure in front of the posts the day would have been ours. Validating that, there was nothing between the sides. We had drawn with Killoe a week earlier at the same venue in the last round of the reserve league and had the same number of points and points difference on the league table.  It has been a very good campaign for the club; we are joint second on the league table after seven games, with many notable and hard fought wins along the way. There have been great team and individual performances, a lot has been learned and it has given several Senior Reserve players the opportunity to show themselves to the senior management team along the way. We now need the remainder of this panel to commit to regular training attendance so that we are in a better position to challenge for the upcoming Senior B Championship which starts shortly. Thanks to team manager Kevin Hourican for his work during the year and to Ciaran and Enda Macken for their assistance with this team. This was an effective, fit, and a well organised Killoe team, worthy of their win, their high paced start to the game and excellent defending ultimately paid off for them. Best of luck to Killoe in the final and congratulations to their club on reaching it. Thanks to Ballymahon’s Michael Farrell and his team for officiating. Team: Sean McNerney, Enda Kiernan, James Mimnagh, Peter Reynolds, Michael Reilly, Niall Vance, Kieran McStay, Noel Reynolds, John Sheridan, Gavin McNerney, Diarmuid Masterson, Padraig Martin, Emmet Masterson, Enda Macken and Gary Maguire.
