Well done to Mark Murtagh, Peter Reilly, James Martin and Emmet Masterson who started the referee course during the week. On Saturday last our under 21 panel travelled to Michael Fay Park to play the opening round against Longford Slashers.  Glorious weather conditions made for good conditions for both player and supporter.  The home side were first to settle opening up a 4 point to 2 point lead.  Our boys responded well scoring 1-02, the goal a well finished Thomas Kelly effort following a good move.  Both sides added further scores leaving the half time score Dromard 1-06 Longford Slashers 0-08.  Again it was our opponents that got into their running on the resumption going into a 1-11 to 1-6 lead.  We battled back to move ahead on the score 2-11 to 1-13, the goal finished on this occasion by Peter Mimnagh.  As the game entered the closing stages we trailed by a point, Gary Maguire coolly stepped stepped up to slot over the equaliser.  Full time score Dromard 2-12 Longford Slashers 1-15.  Well done to our players who showed a never say die attitude on the day.  Great credit must go to both sides who served up a hugely entertaining hour's football.  Team and scorers;  Martin McGee, Michael Reynolds, Keith Masterson, Ronan Smith, Robert Cooke, Mícheál Reilly, Conor Kiernan, Kieran McStay, Bernard Sheridan (0-01), Gary Maguire (0-02), Thomas Kelly (1-00), Kevin Maguire, Sean McNerney, Peter Mimnagh (1-00), Declan Mimnagh (0-09) 7 frees, 1 50.  Sub on the day was Conor Smith. Next round of the under 21 is Sunday next when we will play Killoe in Pairc na Gael at 2pm.
