Well done to Longford seniors who had a convincing win over Offaly in the first round of the Allianz football league in Pearse Park on Sunday last.  Best of luck when they travel to Breffni Park to take on Cavan in round two on Saturday next.  Hard luck to Peter Masterson and Paul McGee who were with Athlone IT panel who were defeated in the Sigerson cup during the past week. There are a couple of coaching workshops that would be of benefit to people interested in coaching coming up shortly.  On this Thursday February 9th a workshop takes place covering "Functional training for club players" and will be delivered by Longford's strength and conditioning coach Dave Hare at Pearse Park from 7.30pm to 9.00pm.  On Friday February 17th there is a goalkeeping workshop geared to 14 year old to adult given by our own Damien Sheridan from 7.30pm to 9.00pm on the astro turf pitch in Drumlish. Longford Coaching and Games Development are holding a Coaching and Games Conference on Saturday February 25th Feb at the Clonguish GAA complex commencing at 10am and finishing with light lunch at 1.00pm. This conference is geared towards skill development of underage players varying in ages from 8yrs to 18 yrs.  Workshops will be given by imminent GAA coaches such as Paudie Butler, Pat O’Shea, Phillip Kerr and Brendan Bolger.  This will be free for all participants.  Anyone interested in attending please contact 087 2437683. Players in all senior grades should ensure that that they have paid their insurance/club membership as soon as possible before the commencement of the playing season. Many players have already done so, but for those who have yet to pay, club registrars will be in attendance at this week’s training sessions. They will also be available in the club house on Sunday morning next following 11.30am Mass. Non playing as well as playing members can pay then. Lotto results for Monday night 30th Jan 2012. The numbers drawn were 7, 17, 23 and 26. There was no winner of the €15,000 jackpot. The winners of the draw were Billy Keenan, Ronan McStay, Angela & Bernie Hudson and Rosemarie Martin. The seller's prize was won by Monica O'Toole.
